November 26 We set of early yesterday morning for Daylesford show were we where lucky to win Best in Group (Group 1st) with our lovely boy Oliver, Paris his sister came along and picked up points for her title, even Sinni added to her tally. A lovely day with Samantha, Mitchell and Rebecca :)
November 21, Well it has been a long time between News... Not much in the way of show results to report, Paris & Sinni have been out a couple of times and collected some points. Our Naya * Lyam litter arrived http://www.carlukecollies.com/lyam--naya-babies-16102017.html . There are litters expected or on the ground by each of our current stud dogs and we are excited to see each of them arrive safely.
With new arrivals there are also departures and sadly we have lost our lovely girl Zara, the only at home Nova daughter she was let go on the 13/11/2017 just short of her 12th birthday she lives on thankfully through our gorgeous grand children Oliver, Nanette and Paris.

Critiques on the Carluke entries at the recent 12th Collie Nationals in Brisbane
1st Baker’s FOXBELL FRIENDS WITHBENEFITS
7 month old blue. Good size and substance nice outline standing. Bite correct. Angulation is good. Nice topline. Easy flowing movement. Well placed ear and eye with a nice expression. I would like a little more stop
1st Baker’s CH CARLUKE AU CONTRAIRE
5 year old shaded sable and white. Balanced head. Bite is correct. Well placed ear and eye giving the correct expression. Good reach of neck. Topline I would like a better croup. Angles are okay, but I would like a little more in front to complete the picture. Otherwise an excellent style of dog.
3rd Baker’s CH CARLUKE CAUSE CELE BRE
5 year old tri colour. In good coat and condition. Balanced head. Well placed ear and eye. Good reach of neck. Good topline and hind angulation. Front angulation also good and it shows on the move.
Baker’s CARLUKE DANCE THRUTH SNOW
2 year old blue merle. Nice size. Balanced outline. Good length of head. Height is correct. Would like a better fill of foreface and underjaw. Got low placed ears. Good eye placement but would like a better shape. Would prefer a better slope of shoulder and on the move she is very close behind.
Baker’s CH CARLUKE LOVE TO POSE (AI)
2 1/2 years blue merle. Good size and substance. Good coat and condition. Good length of head. The bite is okay but I would prefer a stronger wide underjaw. Eye and ear placement are okay. Good reach of neck. Topline needs more of a rise over the loin. Angulation is okay but would like a little more in front.
1st Baker’s CH CARLUKE MOONLIGHT OVER PARIS
5 year old tri colour. Lovely size and outline. Balanced head. Correct bite. Lovely reach of neck and a nice topline. Good set on of tail. Angles are good front and rear as is the movement. Overall a very feminine beautiful bitch.
and the other 2 Carluke bred exhibits but owned by other people
1st Adam’s CH CARLUKE CONTRA INDICATED
2 1/2 year old sable and white. Nice size and substance. Good coat and condition. Good length of head. Correct bite. Ear and eye well placed, but flying one ear. Good reach of neck and topline. Angles okay—would like a little more in the front. A little soft in front pastern.
1st Baker’s CH CARLUKE ONLY MAKEBELIEVE
7 year old sable and white. Nice size and sub. Good coat and condition. Good length of head. Bite is okay. Prefer more underjaw. Hind angulation is okay. Needs more angulation in front. Upper arm should be longer and this shows on the move.

We would like to thank everyone that played some part in the bringing together of the 12th Collie Nationals held in Brisbane, they should play an important part in the show scene/socialisation of Collie breeders from across Australia - New Zealand and the rest of the world. We have managed to attend 8 of these events and been fortunate to be successful at a number of them, this year was extra special as it marks our 45th year with Collies.
Excerpts from the 2017 Collie Club of Victoria critique - judge Mrs B White (UK - Maneric Collies)
Challenge Bitch, Best of Breed and Runner Up Best in Show was Baker’s Ch Carluke Moonlite Over Paris. An utterly
feminine tri, shown and put down to perfection (as were all exhibits from this kennel). A lovely size, she is well
balanced with super reach of neck and correct length of back. Well angulated in front and behind she is able to cover
the ground with ease, maintaining a level topline on the move. She excels in expression having a well balanced head,
slight stop and good underjaw. Her ears although folded rather more than I would like are nevertheless correctly
placed and well used. Her eyes are the correct medium sized, almond shaped, obliquely set and such a lovely dark
brown. Unlucky to meet the Smooth bitch who narrowly beat her for BIS
Reserve Bitch was Baker’s Carluke Dance Thruth Snow. Super bitch with lovely head and expression. Beautiful colour.
Well constructed and moving freely. Unlucky to be beaten by her kennel mate.
Best minor puppy was Baker’s Foxbell Friends Withbenefits. Very promising baby with all the essentials at this age.
Has a lovely body and bone for her age. Her head is developing well and she has a sweet expression thanks to a well
shaped eye and good stop. Ears need to lift but time is on her side. Moved out well for a baby.
Best Intermediate was Adams’ Ch Carluke Contra Indicated. I loved this dog and at not yet 3 years out, he only lost
out on maturity today. I thought him to be very balanced and well angulated with a very good reach of neck and
length of back. His head was clean with correct backskull, moulded foreface, good underjaw and correct stop. His
expression was sweet yet masculine. Showed non stop and moved out really well, covering the ground with ease

July 05 Happy birthday Jenny!
What a month of extreme ups and downs ! Over the Queens birthday long weekend I trekked up to the Collie Club of NSW Championship show under respected Sheltie breeder/judge Mrs Sue Lishman (Louanda) 4 Roughs came with me 2 Blues and 2 Tris always challenging under a breeder that has Sables :) However the team excelled ALL winning their classes Lyam going through to Reserve Challenge dog & Intermediate in Show, his sister Butterfly at her first show in 8 months winning Australian bred in Show, whilst mother and daughter Nanette and Dion won their classes. I also handled Janice's well performed team of Foxbell Smooth Collies where the 3 cleaned up the awards Nat Dog Challenge, Pip Bitch CC and Best of Breed and Nick RCC and RU Best of Breed . Then on returning a body blow Nova - Ch Wicani Wisps of Moonlight (imp UK) had declined rapidly whilst I was away and the kindest thing was to hold her close and let her go, her memories are in every tear that steal from my eyes.
Half heartedly I left with 4 dogs for Red Cliffs a week ago where Iris announced her return to the ring taking out 3 Best of Breeds culminating in a Best in Group under Working dog specialist Mr Chris Moore (Perfu OES). Lyam 2 Dog CC's and RUBOB to Iris & 1 RCC. Sinni the young Smooth finished her Baby career with 3 Baby of Breed awards and learnt an awful lot about being a show dog!. Number 4 dog was Freya along for the outing.
Finishing up at last weekend the Collie Club of Victoria Championship show foolishly I entered 6, 5 Roughs and 1 Smooth, luckily Jenny agreed to come down from Queensland to help (she also wanted to catch up with everyone) 4 First placings, 1 Second and one feather duster! A new star and Nova Great grand daughter CH Carluke Moonlite Over Paris - Nanette went through to Bitch CC, Best of Breed and RUNNER UP TO BEST IN SHOW , Butterfly - Carluke Dance Thruth Snow a Nova Grand daughter went Reserve CC, Dion won her Puppy bitch class, Sinni won her Minor class and Minor puppy of Breed at 6 months and 2 days, Angus was 2nd Open dog, he hasn't been shown for more than 16 months. The countdown in now well and truly on for the National !
June 05 Not much happening on the home front, however over in South Australia Quentin has been on a winning spree collecting Best of Breed at the 2 Winter International shows entered in, congratulations Kimberley and Tania.
We have a couple of young adults that we are looking to place, if you are interested please do not hesitate to contact us.
May 16, Lyam had a very exciting return to the show ring following 7 months out changing puppy coat for big boy clothing he goes and wins RUNNER UP TO BEST IN SHOW (BEST IN SHOW 2nd) Harriet went in her swimsuit and won a 2nd place she will now wait it out for her adult clothing.
From Queensland his sister Saga has also been busy collecting more points towards her title, whilst over in South Australia Quentin is back in the ring and collected 3 Best of Breeds over the weekend.

April 21 Hoping that everyone had a lovely Easter, we welcomed our first puppy for the year, a singleton Tricolour dog for Paris and Angus he is now a week old and more than doubled his birth weight. We also had some more lovely Hip and Elbow results this time for Angus's sister Naya she is Hips 0/0 and Elbows 1/0.
In the showring two cousins picked up points over the Easter weekend congratulations to Karen Hoggard and her Delinda and Jeanette Campbell and her Grace.
April 06 Our last shows for a couple of weeks saw the show team yet again successful, non more so than our youngest team Sinni who at her very first show went through to BABY PUPPY IN SHOW The Roughs kept the challenges all to themselves with Oliver winning 2 CC's and 1 Best of Breed, Dion winning 1 CC and Nanette 1 CC with Best of Breed at her first show back from her 2016 litter. Up in Queensland Jennys' Saga went to her first show in over 6 months to win Best of Breed at the Toowoomba Royal.
We would also like to congratulate new GRAND CHAMPION - Foxbell Fashion Plate- Pip titled at the Ovens Valley shows, she is the 3rd Grand Ch for her sire Pena and he has a Trifecta of Grands, having one in each colour.
March 22, A warm weekend just gone was spent up at the Cohuna circuit, very pleased with how the dogs handled it, coming home with the following; Oliver 4 Best of Breeds, 1 Runner up to Best in Group (Group 2) & Open in group. Dion 2 CC's with Ru BOB for her very first points on her very first away trip. We also titled the lovely Faberge daughter Peppa, she will now be known as CH Kirrieloch First Love.
March 14, this weekend just gone has seen the first shows for Harriet and Dion both girls were very well behaved and came home with very promising results. Harriet collecting her first Challenge and a reserve CC, Dion 1 Minor puppy of breed. Oliver also chipped in with 2 RCC and 2 RU Best of Breeds. So happy with the way the youngsters are shaping up, yet hard to believe that Oliver is no longer classified as a youngster both he and Nanette turn 5 in 2 short weeks.
Congratulations to Janice Cook on titling her Verity, she will now be known as Champion Foxbell Very Finnished, Shelley did a great job of handling her.

February 28 Well at the back end of another month, Happy to report that we had a very successful trip to the Canberra royal under Finnish judge Mr H Lehkonen, we bought home Dog Challenge and Ru Best of Breed with our lovely Oliver, and showing on behalf of Samantha Buckley - Kirrieloch Collies Bitch Challenge and BEST OF BREED with her lovely Peppa - Kirrieloch First Love, she is now breathing down on her well deserved title. We also took with us Janice Cook's very talented Pip - CH Foxbell Fashion Plate who came home with yet another royal win, going BEST OF BREED as well. Thank you ladies for letting me have such successful show team to take away, thank you also to my niece Corina who helped to show the dogs for run offs. On the way home we stopped at Rochester Aggi show where the results were the same except Oliver turned the tables on Peppa and was the BOB winner.
We have also welcomed into our kennels the long awaited Harriet who is settling in well and a cute Smoothie baby from Janice Sinni.

February 08 Good bye January, wow didn't that go quickly! We have been to some shows, Iris is very close to her title but her coat loss has beaten her, she will now sit at home to play and regrow a new dress. Paris has also collected some more points, hopefully a different path for her with the pitter patter of paws in her future. Oliver well he just wants to have fun he has had success also in the ring as has his half sister Samantha Buckley's Peppa who is counting down her points.
Up in Queensland we are excited that Lyam babies are on the way we wish Jackie, David and Lilli all the best for the anticipated arrival of blue/tri babies this weekend.
Over in Belgium Harriet is in final stage for departure to Oz she arrives Friday morning :) it is certainly all happening this month.
Every year we take part in the Dogzonline pointscore not to win but to keep track of our own dogs over the year, last year we are happy to report Nanette won Top Victorian Challenge winner (despite being out of the ring for puppies for the larger part on the year) and her sister Paris was Top Victorian Show Collie of the year.
January 01, Welcome to 2017 it is great to have you all here. I hope you enjoy the short video on our front page highlighting the lovely Collies that have made it into the showring on the home front. Missing is the lovely Smooth boy in South Australia Quentin who has gone from strength to strength in the capable hands of Kimberley and Tania Adams. Susie and Andrew's Pepe , Katrina's Nelson and Pat's now retired Luna. We are grateful to everyone that helps with the exhibition of our Collies as at times we are certainly short of hands!
2017 will bring with it the arrival shortly of Harriet, who depending on coat may or may not make an appearance in the ring this year. We hope to get young Dion out and about as she gains a bit more age and there are a couple of titles that are within attainable limits so I hope you stay in touch by visiting this page or checking in via facebook
