October 27, Time is starting to move super fast now, it really is the down hill slide to Christmas! The Royal Melbourne Show critique is in, has been for a while and if you have not seen it, I have copied and pasted it from the Dogs Victoria website
Collie (Rough) Best of Breed & Best Puppy of Breed: Typical representative of this breed, moderate, balanced with typical head expression and good position of canines in underjaw. Perfect topline and underline. Well set and carried tail. Typical movement, typical double coat. Stable and friendly temperament. I really enjoyed judging a dog of such high quality. Thank you showing under me. This was our Dylan - Carluke Kissed By Harriet who also went on to win Best Puppy in Group
General Comments: On average a good quality but breeders should take care about position of canines in underjaw. I saw a number of dogs with narrow underjaws. It is a problem in dog breeding. In future, please take more care of this problem.
We ventured up to a mid week Agricultural show which was great fun, in the past and still today these are great ways of exposing the wider community to the benefits of choosing a well-bred, well reared puppy to add to their lives. The showring was fun to! Lovely to see Bronwen and her girl Sassy - Carluke Fabulous Me take out the Best of Breed with Henri - Carluke Kissed By Faberge winning the Ru BOB and Junior in Group, Feliz - Carluke Hands Offmy Tiara (AI) reserve CC and Sia - Grand Ch Foxbell X Factor being shortlisted for BIG.
Our final October birthdays have been, a big happy 2nd birthday to Dixie, Sassy, Ginja, Sweety, Sascha & Oscar. the Oliver* Karolyn children.
October 23, Thank you Raewyn for the lovely photos of Cruz taken the day he won his Best in group - Cruz - NZ CH Carluke Started Witha Kiss:- Carluke Love Struck (AI) * CH Scottlyme Prelude To A Kiss (imp Belg)

Across the ditch in New Zealand (NI) Cruz - NZ CH Carluke Started Witha Kiss ventured to his first show in 8 months to pick up a very nice BEST IN GROUP Congratulations Raewyn you have him looking lovely.
October 11, What a busy past week it has been, over in New Zealand they have had their National & Prelude shows (similar in importance to our 'Royals') Robbie - Carluke Cest La Vie won both his Puppy dog classes - but his half sister Prim - NZ/AUST CH Carluke Diamentes at Dusk went further! picking up BEST OF BREED at the National under Croatian Mr Davor Javor and Ru BEST OF BREED under Australian Mr Andrew Burt - Congratulations to Cherry and Angela.
This win has given Dion the honour of being the mother of 2 "Royal show" wining daughters - Coco bitch CC at this years Melbourne Royal and Prim in New Zealand - she also was a RBCC winner at a past Melbourne Royal. Dion only has 2 daughters and special as we lost both their fathers this year.
On the local scene Dylan - Carluke Kissed By Harriet collected 2 Best of Breeds and 1 Junior in group and Coco - Carluke Frou Frou Revue 1 RuBOB & 1 Puppy in group from our only 2 shows last weekend - This leaves Dylan 1 point short of his Australian title, fingers crossed for this Saturday.
Whilst speaking of titles, huge congratulations to Kaye Reeves & Flirt - Izkaze La Coquette on realizing her last 2 points, so very well deserved for this lovely girl and she makes Champion Child number 10 for her lovely father Oliver.
Their are also Dog birthdays a plenty this month, Henri, Dylan and their brothers turned 1 year old on Saturday the 7th, Coco & Robbie turned 1 on Tuesday the 10th and tomorrow on the 12th Cruz and Scott celebrate their 2nd birthday. Thank you to everyone that has sent in photos of the Leo* Harriet babies celebrating their birthdays.
October 05, We are hoping to have puppies MID 2024 Sables & Tricolours, at this stage we have no plans for Blue Merle babies.
October 01, WOW WOW WOW the Melbourne Royal show is over for another year and what can we say but WOW. The puppies stole the show! Dylan just starting to drop coat wins Dog Challenge, Best of Breed then brings it home with BEST PUPPY IN GROUP . Coco with 2 months out of the ring being in season etc. wins Bitch Challenge and Leo reserve Dog challenge and RU to BEST OF BREED! TOTALLY STOKED. This qualifies both Coco and Dylan for Crufts 2024!
The rest of the team not to shabby either:- Henry 3rd Puppy dog, Cally 2nd Intermediate bitch, Dixie 3rd Intermediate bitch, Harriet 2nd Open bitch. By our boys Pirate 2nd Open dog (Oliver), Scout 1st Aust Bred dog (Oliver), Adelphi 1st Open bitch & RCC (Oliver). Bred by us - Cara 1st Junior bitch (Rudi * Sia)
Thank you to everyone that helped get them to the ring, videoed them, congratulated them our cared for them at home. Harriet is now officially retired.

September 21, Congratulations yet again to Robbie - Carluke Cest La Vie on winning his 9th NZ CC in 11 shows at 11 months of age. Also Matilda Joy - Carluke Frozen In TIme (AI) on her DKK - Junior Champion title.
September 11, A fun trip with Teeny and the dogs to the Adelaide royal, the dogs performed to perfection we were just not the judges 'cup of tea' this year! Congratulations to the winners. We chose not to stay for Puppy in group - Dylan won his class and Puppy of Breed uncontested, staying would of meant 4 dogs waiting in the trailer, so the majority won.
Meeting the public and talking ALL things Collie is one of the highlights of a Royal show, lucky Teeny loves to talk! However it is disturbing the amount of people that believe/think caring for a Collie coat must be SO time consuming! To be honest a family companion Collie should take no more in coat maintenance than an hour a week - yes there are times that it will take longer - coat blow. But 1 hour a week is no more than 9 minutes a day, this can be prior to a walk and the jobs broken down so one day you check the pressure points - ears, elbows, thighs, then next day you may groom the front half and so on and so forth. Most people probably spend more time than that on their own personal hygiene. The right tools and a little bit of planning and you to can have a Collie to be proud of.
Congratulations to Jackie and Cara - Carluke The Naked Truth on picking up their first Challenge points looking forward to catching up with them at the Melbourne Royal - Collie day September 28

July 28th, 2023 2nd & final show for July done this morning, another Best of Breed for Cally and a DCC with RBOB for Henri.
July 14, 2023. Winter is slowly moving on, we have daffodils starting to flower their brave heads bending to the savage winds. We are not great fans of winter shows keeping the dogs clean and caring for those left behind becomes difficult sometimes. However we did manage to get to a show last Sunday, sadly the only Collies entered Dylan won a nice Puppy in group and Cally was Best of Breed with Feliz winning the Ru BOB. Only one more show this month. Hope you are all keeping warm and well.

June 04, 2023 Today it will be lovely to draw a close on what has been a devastating week here at Carluke, May 31 our everloving, mischievous, friend to everyone (human/canine) Oliver felt he was needed here no more...how little he knew. There is a little comfort in that we are surrounded with his children, grandchildren and his sister, they will without doubt over compensate.
Attending a show on Saturday was hard, showing under Mr Christopher Evans even harder, Chris has in the past awarded Oliver not one, but 2 BEST IN GROUP (GROUP 1ST) awards, so it was heartening that he decided Leo - CH Carluke Falling In Love BOB and did enough to be shortlisted for the Group (hormonal teenager!) awarded Henri - Carluke Kissed By Faberge - Minor puppy in group, Cally - CH Kirrieloch Oh Calamity (AI) Reserve CC and Dixie - Carluke Fabulously Fancy 1st in Intermediate bitch. Sia - CH Foxbell X Factor was also BOB

May 29, I have not long returned (Thursday the 25th to be precise) from a lovely week in Denmark, celebrating 12 months residency for our gorgeous Matilda Joy - AKA Carluke Frozen In Time (AI) and her Euro Mum Henriette. It was a lovely time surrounded by friends from Norway, Denmark and the UK - where we also celebrated Tomas Rohlin being inducted as an 'All Breeds' judge of the Danish Kennel Club - a big deal! there are only 8 of them. Dogs Shows were involved and I had the pleasure of showing Matilda to 2 * 2nd placings both with Excellent grading and 1 CQ certificate :) not bad going for a naked teenager and her Aussie handler/breeder.
May 11, Only one show result to report for the weekend just gone. Congratulations to Wayne, Louise and Jade - CH Carluke Private Dancer on your Best of Breed at the 'Bathurst Royal" under Group 5 judge Mrs A Collyer.
April 25, Only a small showing of Collies on the weekend. Dixie is back in the ring, still recoating after her puppy drop but still looking very glamourous none the less. She gained 2 BOB, 1 with a group shortlist today under Mrs S Mashford. & 1 CC with RBOB Congratulations Teeny and Carluke Fabulously Fancy, also there first shows on there own. Dylan - Carluke Kissed By Harriet had another run around the ring and picked up 1 BOB & 1 RuBOB. Sia - Ch Foxbell X Factor picked up both BOB's and a group shortlist.
No shows for the home team now until June, but Dixie and Teeny will be popping up occasionally

April 12. Easter has been in a whirlwind of dog shows and family time. It is hard to believe but our 'babies' have now moved up to the Minor puppy class, making them eligible for CC points to their titles, even harder to believe is that they all did just that! Dylan won a contested Best of Breed over older & titled dogs to pick up his first points @ 6 months and 1 day he then won his first fringie ribbon going onto Minor puppy in group, he handled himself with great maturity in the Best in group line up. Henri was next he won 2 uncontested Best of Breeds but also went on to collect a Minor puppy in group award @ 6 months and 2 days, Then Coco who turned 6 months on Monday said I can do that too! winning a contested Bitch Challenge but bowing to older males in the Best of Breed competition. Sia collected all 6 Bitch challenges & 4 BOB (uncontested) , Feliz who is very naked came for experience in the indoor pavilion won 2 RCC, Leo 2 RCC as well. A lovely time with our doggies.

Leo & Sia both collected both Best of Breeds and their first CACIB (required for an International Beauty Title.) Sia was also selected into the final 8 in the Best in group line up on Saturday.

Others that joined the weekend activities were Sia - Ch Foxbell X Factor picking up some nice points, Dylan - Carluke Kissed By Harriet behaved so well, he just needs to learn the person in front is NOT for jumping on and Feliz- Carluke Hands Off My Tiara (AI) just out for experience in ringcraft and it is looking very promising 3 * RCC.

January 29 Lovely time at shows all around! One ADI show for the home crew with Leo and Sia both picking up Best of Breeds and Dixie stood alone for bitch challenge.
Up in Queensland Anneke attended 2 shows to title Estelle - CH Carluke Lovea Poser (pending) giving Baxter another titled girl (thank you Gail Doe) and Iris her first and only Champion, but third generation Blue Merle female Champion.
Making his debut was young Daemon - Carluke Charmed Bya Kiss with Nerina, this boy certainly looked all the goods on livestream, congratulations on the lovely job you are doing with him Nerina.
Thank you one and all for your support especially towards Anneke and Estelle. Jenny, Jackie, Corine and Rebecca.
January 24 Our first shows for the year have been quite successful! The babies have all debuted each of the boys have had 1 show and behaved quite well no doubt they will show a little more finesse on there next showring adventures. Coco on the other hand has been to 3 shows for 3 Baby puppy of Breeds and 2 Baby puppy in groups - she is only 3 months and 1 week, she has been quite the professional (apart from when she wouldn't walk at her 1st show!) No more shows for the babies now until late February.
Dixie has been to 5 shows for 4 bitch challenges and is halfway to her title, a little niggling injury may keep her sidelined until March (finger crossed she doesn't loose to much coat) Sia has 5 Best of Breed awards and 1 Group 4th - thank you Dave Lassam. Leo has been to 3 shows for all 3 Best of Breeds I don't think he enjoyed the warmer weather but he did enjoy his own fan!
Across in New Zealand we can celebrate Cruz's title collecting 4 Best of Breeds and a Junior in group this past weekend. Congratulations to Raewyn and thank you Denise for the lovely photo of him.

January 01, 2023
It has certainly been a huge year here at Carluke! A year full of events, puppies, highs and lows. It would be remiss to begin a recap without remembering the passing of 2 lovely dogs. Firstly our own CH Faberge Des Beldones @ 12.5 years and Patricia Neweys CH Carluke Luvn Themyst - Lunar @ 16.5 (daughter to Phoenix & Nova) There is also Susie and Andrew who lost Pepe and Blush within 5 months of each other. To all those that have also lost someone special, we see them every night that the stars shine above us and they still walk by our sides.
On the puppy front we have welcomed into the world during the year 3 lovely litters from Sia, Harriet and Dion. From Sia we are lucky that many of the babies went to special friends so we hear about them very often. Harriets are only just leaving to special homes far and wide with Henri staying here, Dion's boy is about to set sail for distant lands and Coco will remain at home.
Our 2021/2022 puppies have gone on to glory & disappointment that we could not have imagined :-
Estelle - Carluke Love A Poser (Mrs Anneke Van Mosseveld) needs one CC to complete her title
Jade - CH Carluke Private Dancer (Wayne & Louise Shipman) completed her title at just over 12 months (Jan 2022) of age and still picks up BOB's when shown
Leo - CH Carluke Falling In Love (Carluke) completed his title at just under 12 months (May 2022) and has gone on to some wonderful wins and is also the sire of our lovely Harriet boys (October 2022)
Cruz - Carluke Started With A Kiss (Raewyn Mullans NZ) left Australia after winning Baby in Show at his first show, to continue on the other side in New Zealand, then bad weather interrupted his outings but he now only needs 2 CC's to complete his NZ title
Scott - Carluke Love And Kisses (Carluke) has not been out a lot, he needed to do some growing up, he does however have CC points and we hope he will be out during the year.
Dixie - Carluke Fabulosly Fancy (Teeny Talsma) has debuted with CC points and Class in group/show wins at All breeds and specialty shows.
Sassy - Carluke Fabulous Me (Bronwen Cramond) has also debuted with challenge points.
Matilda Joy - Carluke Frozen In Time (AI) (Henriette Pahl) set sail for Denmark in May and at her final shows for the year won her first Junior Challenge and has also been graded Excellent under breed specialists
Feliz - Carluke Hands Offmy Tiara (AI) (Carluke) won her first baby puppy class, then the unthinkable happened, she fractured her Tibia and has spent the rest of the year laying around at home (literally!) we have our fingers crossed that she may come out during 2023.
Cara - Carluke The Naked Truth (Carluke/Jackie Garvin) shown by us during her babyhood where she won all her classes, Cara has now gone to live with Jackie and her family, they have just started in the ring together and as they both gain experience we are looking to fun times ahead for them.
and of course there is
Cally - CH Kirrieloch Oh Calamity (AI) (Carluke) A spur of the moment decision to add her to the family when an International home turned her down, what an asset she has been. Spending most of the 2022 year in her knickers she titled just into the Junior class and then added a Royal Best of Breed along with recognition from Breed specialists.
Older Collies in the ring,
Karolyn - CH Carluke This Is Me collected her final points after a lockdown/maternal duties interrupted show career, she will now retire.
Sia - CH Foxbell X Factor started the year with a bang, winning her first Best in Group (Group 1st) then retired to have a lovely litter of puppies, only returning to the ring in late August, she is now on the downhill stretch to her 'Grand' having collected some lovely wins in the back end of the year.
